TERMS OF
SERVICE
These are the rules for using Turffed. They form a binding agreement between you and Turffed, so please read them. If you don't agree with them, don't use the Service. Last updated: 13 September 2026.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Turffed website (turffed.com.au), the Turffed mobile application, and any related services (together, the "Service"), operated by Turffed ("we", "us", "our") from Australia. By creating an account, joining the waitlist, taking part in a beta, or otherwise using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of a golf club or business, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation.
2. Who Can Use Turffed
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may only use it with the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. We may ask you to confirm your age, and we will close accounts we reasonably believe belong to under-13s. The Service is intended for users in Australia; we make no claim that it is appropriate elsewhere.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, and for keeping your login details secure. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date. One person, one account — you may not share an account, sell it, transfer it, or operate multiple accounts to gain a competitive advantage. Tell us promptly at admin@turffed.com.au if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. Fair Play and Score Integrity
Turffed is a competitive game built on self-reported golf scores. The whole thing collapses if people cheat, so this section matters more than most. You agree that you will:
Post only genuine scores — scores you
actually shot, on the hole and course shown, during a real round you played in person.
Play by the rules of golf and the local
rules of the course you are on.
Not falsify your location using GPS
spoofing, emulators, modified clients, automation, or any other method.
Not manipulate handicaps or supply false
handicap information to gain an advantage in net scoring.
Not collude with other players to hand
over holes, farm claims, or distort leaderboards.
Where we reasonably believe a score is not genuine, we may remove it, reverse any hole claim it produced, adjust leaderboards, restrict features, or suspend or close the account. Hole ownership, badges, rankings and other in-game status are a feature of the Service, not property. They have no monetary value, cannot be sold or transferred, and we may adjust or reset them — including season resets and corrections after cheating.
5. Acceptable Use
Don't use the Service to harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone. Don't post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, defamatory, or that impersonates someone else. Keep usernames clean — we may rename or remove any that aren't. Don't scrape, reverse engineer, overload, or attempt to break the Service or its security, and don't use it for anything illegal. We may remove content and restrict accounts that breach this section.
6. Your Content
You keep ownership of everything you submit — scores, usernames, photos, messages. By submitting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. You confirm you have the right to submit it. Note that gameplay content is public by design: your display name, scores, hole claims and ranking are visible to other players on course leaderboards and territory maps.
7. Playing Safely, and Where You're Allowed To
Turffed is played outdoors on real golf courses. You are responsible for your own safety and for the people around you. Pay attention to your surroundings rather than your phone, follow all course rules, signage and staff instructions, respect pace of play, and never enter private property or a restricted area to claim a hole. Do not use the app while driving a cart or vehicle. A course appearing in Turffed is not an invitation to play it, and does not mean the club endorses, sponsors, or is affiliated with Turffed — you still need to book, pay green fees, and meet any access requirements the club sets.
8. Beta Releases
Parts of the Service are offered as a pre-release beta, including builds distributed through Apple TestFlight. Beta software is provided on an "as is" basis, may be unstable or incomplete, and may change or be withdrawn without notice. We may reset accounts, scores, claims and leaderboards at the end of a beta period. Please don't publicly share screenshots or details of unreleased features without asking us first, and please do send us feedback — by submitting feedback you allow us to use it to improve the Service without obligation to you.
9. Price
Turffed is free to play, and core gameplay — claiming holes, defending them, leaderboards — is what we intend to keep free. We may introduce optional paid extras in future. If we ever do, we'll tell you clearly before you're asked to pay for anything, and we will never retroactively charge you for something that was free when you used it.
10. App Stores & Third Parties
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and their terms apply to your download alongside ours. Apple and Google are not parties to this agreement, are not responsible for the Service, and have no obligation to provide support for it. Where these Terms conflict with Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement, the stricter of the two applies to your use of the iOS app. The Service also relies on third-party providers for hosting, email and mapping; we are not responsible for outages or errors originating with them.
11. Our Intellectual Property
The Turffed name, logo, app, website, design, code and content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by Australian and international law. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial enjoyment while you comply with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from any part of it without our written permission. Golf course names and club trade marks referred to in the Service remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification only.
12. Availability & Warranties
We work hard to keep Turffed running, but we don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error free, or that course data, GPS positions and scores will always be accurate. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. Except as set out in the next section, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
13. Your Australian Consumer Law Rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), including the Australian Consumer Law, where that cannot lawfully be excluded. Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, we limit it to resupplying the Service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
14. Limitation of Liability
Subject to section 13, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of data, or personal injury or property damage arising from your use of the Service — including anything that happens on a golf course while you are playing. You use the Service at your own risk and remain responsible for your own conduct on course. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim connected with the Service is limited to AUD $100 or the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.
15. Ending Your Account
You can stop using Turffed whenever you like, and you can delete your account from within the app at any time. Deleting your account removes your profile and releases the holes you hold. We handle the data side of deletion as described in our Privacy Policy.
16. Suspension by Us
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, cheat, put other users at risk, or if we are required to by law. Where it's reasonable to do so we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — intellectual property, liability, and dispute resolution — continue to apply afterwards.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service develops. We'll post the revised version here with a new "Last updated" date, and for significant changes we'll give you notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept them, stop using the Service and delete your account.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
